There but for the Grace of God, Go I

NaNoWriMo starts in...11 days! And I have very few actual details hashed out. Because I hate details. Details are my downfall as a director, and as a writer I'm afraid. I'm getting better though, I promise!! I'm learning how to be action oriented, and not dialogue oriented. If I can use directing tips for writing my play, then I can damn well use them for NaNo this month as well. Hopefully if I make myself hash out the details, I'll actually get somewhere this year, and not abandon my NaNo for...well...I'm not sure for what, but I definitely abandoned it last year.

Well...I mean, really I think I just got busy with the show I was in, but its all the same. This year I just have to balance classes with writing my play, and then with my NaNo.

And my god is my NaNo concept slightly complicated this year.

And when I say slightly, I mean...pretty damn complicated. There's like 8 characters as focus points. And a slew of other random people. Plus its basically about government sanctioned genocide. Well...sort of...

I like horrors. And thrillers. I like them a lot. I also have a pension for writing things that are dark, and somewhat depressing, as well as bloody. Someone always ends up dead, and someone else always ends up horrifically injured.

That's how I roll. Don't judge. ^_~

Anyway, my novel this year is titled "There but for the Grace of God, Go I."

Basic Plot?

In the distant future all we want is utopia. Science has us pushed to the brink of genetic perfection, and those who can afford it want for nothing. In order to keep the peace, rules and regulations run rampant. Crimes are dealt with severely, genetic disorders are illegal, immigration is virtually impossible, the government has taken over population control, and those who speak out are quickly silenced. While mainstream society turns its head, what happens to those the government deems unworthy?

In Middle America there lies a government facility. Those who violate the laws wake up to find themselves in the middle of nowhere, armed with nothing in a military training ground. In this new and unknown territory, those deemed unworthy are forced to defend themselves against an army instructed to stop at nothing until each of them have been dispatched. Innocents and deviants alike find themselves forced to fight against each other and highly trained officials. Do they ban together, or do they fight for themselves and themselves alone?

So...slightly complicated. This has a lot of elements, and the potential for a shit ton of characters. I plan on working on a few bios tonight, so that I have everyone worked out before I start writing. That way I'll already know group dynamics. Makes writing much smoother.

So in saying that...I'll probably be back later tonight. Rambling about characters.

Til then!!!
